Harvey is located along the South Western Highway, 140 kms south of Perth, between Pinjarra and Bunbury.

Known in the Noongar language as Korijekup, meaning “the place of the red tailed black cockatoo.”  the township of Harvey was established in the 1890s.

Today Harvey is the location of Stirling Cottage – a replica of a cottage built in the 1850’s on land owned by Sir James Stirling near the Harvey River. The original cottage was home to May Gibbs, creator of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, during 1885-1886.
