Wooleen Station was founded in 1886 by James Sharpe who purchased the lease of about 90,000 acres at Yewlads Pool.

Brett and Helen Pollock then bought the property in 1989 and it remains in the Pollock name today with David Pollock and partner Frances Jones as managers.

A full history of Wooleen Station can be found in Road to the Murchison: An Illustrated Story of the District and Its People by Marion Nixon and Robert Francis Bruce Lefroy, copies of which are available to purchase from the Station.
