Kalgoorlie is a city in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, located 595 km east-northeast of Perth at the end of the Great Eastern Highway. Kalgoorlie Boulder was established in the 1890’s, following the discovery by Irish prospectors Paddy Hannan, Tom Flanagan and Daniel Shea of 100 ounces of alluvial nuggets.  The find led to one of the greatest gold rushes Australia has ever witnessed.
